Making DTLA Safe & Accessible for All.

We are a coalition of passionately dedicated people who want to transform Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) into a truly accessible and inclusive place for everyone to live, work, visit, and play.

We believe DTLA has the potential to be a vibrant community for all, but we need to invest in the infrastructure and access to transit that are currently barriers to safe travel and accessibility for everyone. Improving accessibility for people with disabilities and seniors improves the DTLA experience for all of us.

In Los Angeles County there are currently over 1 million people who identify as having disabilities and 2 million people are aged 60 and older.

We want to hear from you! The voices of people with lived experience: people with disabilities, and caretakers, and dedicated allies for accessibility for all are crucial for creating the future of universal design in DTLA and the greater region. Your insights are invaluable as we build a more accessible Downtown!

For example, our research shows that over 90% of people who move using wheelchairs and travel frequently in DTLA find the poor quality of DTLA’s sidewalks to be a barrier to increased travel.

Working to deliver a safer & more accessible DTLA

DTLA Mobility for All is engaged in a variety of projects designed to improve accessibility and mobility throughout Downtown Los Angeles. Our initiatives are multi-pronged and collaborative, focusing on both immediate solutions and long-term systemic change.

The DTLA Mobility Survey

Our survey is gathering crucial data on the lived experiences of individuals navigating LA. The insights gained from this survey are directly informing our advocacy efforts and project development.

The Universal Mobility & Travel Guide

We are creating a travel guide specifically for people with disabilities and their friends and family seeking mobility solutions in DTLA. This guide will identify businesses and locations that are truly accessible and inclusive.

Enhancing Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Pickup and Dropoff Locations & Transit Stations

We are actively working to create better, safer, and dedicated pickup and drop-off locations for wheelchair accessible vehicles at key sites across DTLA.

Identifying Pain Points Throughout DTLA

We are building a framework to identify and address any and all mobility and accessibility issues in DTLA. Our goal is to identify these dangers and transform them into possibilities for improvement.

Supporting the Emergency Evacuation Database

We support the development of a database for people with disabilities for emergency evacuations.

Support the Creation of a Capital Investment Program

We strongly support Mayor Bass’s Executive Directive 9, which aims to repair streets and clean public spaces.

Expanding Accessible Throne Bathroom Systems

We are supporting the expansion of Throne bathroom systems throughout DTLA and advocating for increased accessibility, including extended operating hours.

The Festival Trail

We support Festival Trails work creating a network of accessible and universally designed spaces for all upcoming festivals and gatherings in Los Angeles.

Making new Development Universally Designed

We believe every new development project in DTLA should actively contribute to making the district more universally accessible.

Upgrading Metro Accessibility

Shoutouts to elected officials that created those motions about neurodivergence and festival trails.

[We appreciate Metro as a strong partner in upgrading accessibility for everyone. They have been accessing stations and Solis’ motion]

Improvements to accessible transportation empower everyone.

Accessible transportation is important to people of all ages and abilities. Our projects bring together community leaders, local organizations, and transportation experts to ensure that everyone can navigate the city with ease.
